hi I'm Greg from Bennington Marine today we're going to help you figure out what's the best trailer for my pontoon boat there are two types of trailer the bunk style that support the pontoons and the up down style that's going to go between the pontoons we're going to go ahead and do a step through on both of them so we'll start with the Up Down trailer and then we'll come back to the bunk style trailer.
The Up Down trailer is designed for a twin tube application if you have a triple pontoon tube boat then you are going to want to not use this style of trailer but if you have a twin tube boat this is great for a couple reasons if you're in shallower water as far as the ramp you can lower the bed to get the boat launched off easier and also to bring the boat onto the trailer and then you can crank it up to travel down the road one thing you do have to watch when you have the Up Down trailer the axles where the tires are it's more narrow so you do have to watch it when you Corner around the curves on the road you want to just take your time and be more cautious because uh the weight of the boat would want to make it kind of like you know bank a little bit harder so we just don't want you to have any problems on the road there but the great great trailer for if you're going to be more local or you've got a ramp that's a little tricky as far as depth to get in and out of then this this Up Down trailer would be a great trailer for that application so as we talked about earlier with the up down style trailer you'll notice that it's lifting by the deck and the cross members so therefore again that's why you wouldn't be able to do a triple tube with one of these setups one of the key features of the up and down trailer is that you can raise and lower the boat real easy before we showed you the manual crank up and down style this one is just a touch of a button.
With the bunk style trailer you can haul either a triple pontoon like this trailer set up for or you can get it without the center set of bunks and you could haul a twin pontoon nice feature on the bunk style trailer is you have the staircase to get up in the boat along with a grab rail makes it easy to enter and exits boat while it's on the trailer this one even has the tie downs for the front of the boat so you can secure it nice and tight for traveling down the road with the bunk style trailer you're going to notice the axle is wider so it's going to be a more stable ride when you're trailing it down the road also you're going to have your bunks here supporting the actual pontoon tube so it just kind of rests right inside there gives it a nice secure fit we've got the dovetail on this particular trailer here with the tie down straps and for our friends that are in the salt water they do offer galvanized series trailers as well this is a load guide this option you can put on pretty much any bunk style trailer the nice thing with this is this is going to help you load right onto the trailer and Center you up on the bunks you can get this also with a bunk and instead of the roller the one we see here has the roller which is going to just make it Glide right up on the tube right up onto the trailer so it's great option if you're going to Trail all the time strongly suggest getting a load guide package for more boating tips visit us at benningtonmarine.com
